A WEEKEND OF FOUR LEGGED FUN!
Redwings sent 30 staff and eight horseboxes to help recover some of the 100-plus horses and ponies. People will have the chance to see not only the haven that the charity offers all its equine residents but also the hard work that goes on to care for them.
Redwings' 350-acre headquarters is home to its Horse Hospital, Parklands Re-homing Centre and admin offices as well as more than 300 horses, ponies, donkeys and mules. On both days the public are welcome to come along for lots of fun, pats and fresh air from 10am to 4pm.
The sanctuary, at Hapton near Norwich, has three visitor centres in the UK but only opens its headquarters to the public for two weekends a year and always makes an extra special effort so visitors have a fantastic day. As well as lots of friendly noses to rub and new equine friends to make, there will be tours of the Horse Hospital with Redwings' senior veterinary surgeon, riding demonstrations from the resident re-homing team, horse handling demos with a handling expert and plenty of horsey care talks and interactive displays.
The 350-acre site is especially beautiful, so walks and minibus tours will enable visitors to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of this peaceful centre and meet more of the rescued horses and ponies.
Chief Executive Lynn Cutress is looking forward to welcoming lots of visitors, many like to come every year. "The two open weekends are a highlight of our year here at Hapton. A visit to us is perfect for anyone who loves horses, animals and the countryside and suits people of all ages. Light meals and delicious home-made cakes along with Fair Trade teas and coffees are available to enjoy in the beautiful memorial gardens and the gift shop will be packed full of the latest Redwings gifts. We hope people to take the chance to come along and see what we do."
You can also visit Redwings at one of its three visitor centres across England throughout the Summer. For more information, visit http://www.redwings.co.uk or call 0870 040 0033
