NAF BE Jump Training Series reaches a glorious conclusion

NAF BE Jump Training Series reaches a glorious conclusion.

In fabulous weather and under uninterrupted blue skies, a record entry converged on Weston Lawns near Rugby on the 18th of April for the culmination of this year's BE Jump Training series, generously sponsored by NAF. Competition for the top spots was also hot, with the Champions emerging with especially low penalty scores and little to separate many of the placings.

The morning saw the BE90 JT Final settled, with the Junior title going the way of one of the 2009 JT Champions, Madeleine Taylor, who this year became the unofficial "face of Jump Training", when her photograph was used on the cover of the Series' schedule.

Maddy once again steered the smart and impressive Dakota IV into top slot on a penalty score of 18.0, whilst Francesca Sargent with Belle Vue Royal Prince and Ellie Williams with Mazing tied for the runners up spot on a score of 27.0.

In the senior section, a remarkable score of just 14.0 penalties saw Ben Way pilot the 5 year old bay gelding, Juke Box to the title. The home-bred and produced Juke Box is by the thoroughbred stallion Southern Music and was one of the outstanding horses of the series. Following their success, Ben said "Juke Box is a really nice young horse and the experience that the Jump Training series provided has been extremely beneficial in his development. I also found the BE Coaching provided to be absolutely fantastic and a real key feature of the whole Jump Training format".

Zara Heathcote took two of the top five placings in the BE100 JT Junior Final, coming fourth on My Mare Mavis, before being crowned Champion on a score of 23.0 penalties with Master Shock. Harriet Blake and Riverside Snapdragon were runners up on 28.0, with Pippa Gloag and Billy Beetroot finishing third.

At the head of the Senior section, there was a tie for first place, with Rebecca Daniels and Sunnyside Up sharing the spoils and the title of 2010 Senior BE100 Jump Training Champion with Nichola O'Connor, riding the athletic Poetic Rose. Jenny Gray-Wallis and Pembridge Copycat filled third place, with a spread of just four penalties dividing the top five placings.

Reflecting on the 2010 series, Chris Shaw said, "we are delighted that so many competitors engaged with Jump Training this year, which rewarded all our efforts to ensure that the series visits as many parts of the country as possible".

"We also had a great turn-out at the final, demonstrating riders' appetite for the combination of direct coaching, support and competition that Jump Training provides. Once again, we will be following this year's event results with interest to see how JT competitors fare during the coming season. If the successes of last year are replicated, then Jump Training will prove to have been a fantastic preparation for many participants".
