10 year ban for owner who allowed pony to suffer in excruciating pain
| 10 year ban for owner who allowed pony to suffer in excruciating pain A 61 year old man from Aberdeenshire has been banned from keeping horses and ponies for 10 years and fined £500 for failing to provide appropriate care to a Shetland pony which had to be put down. | |
| "She was thin, her hooves were grossly overgrown and she was suffering from severe laminitis which left her in excruciating pain. Sadly, there was no option other than to put her to sleep, something which could have been so easily prevented if Mr Totten had provided her with adequate care and attention. I hope this sentence sends a clear message to others that cruelty and neglect to horses is not tolerated." Every year World Horse Welfare's UK Welfare department receives 33,000 calls. | |
