Equine charity launches new animal adoption scheme
| Equine charity launches new animal adoption scheme AN EQUINE welfare charity in Bristol has this month (January 2009) launched its new animal adoption scheme to raise funds for retired horses and ponies in its care. |
"There are more than 100 animals permanently retired at HorseWorld, who will live out their days in peace and happiness thanks to the support of the public. For many of these animals, HorseWorld was their last chance. It costs £50 each week to care for a horse that has been given long-term sanctuary at HorseWorld."
If you make an annual adoption donation over £10 you will receive a certificate thanking you for your adoption, an invitation to an Adoption Day at the Welfare Department to see your adopted friend and to watch special demonstrations of HorseWorld's rehabilitation and training work. You will also receive a copy of ‘From the Horse's Mouth', which is a special update on your animal's progress every six months.
For every annual adoption donation over £40 or if you set up a regular adoption donation by direct debit you will receive all of the above and a framed photograph of your new adopted friend.
Jess added: "Animals up for adoption include Flame. She is a beautiful chestnut Arab mare that has had a very sad past. She had been stabbed by her owner. Despite her violent past, Flame is a sweet and loving horse and like most Arab horses she is very gentle. She desperately needs security and your adoption will help to provide her with the long term care she needs. The charity has two sites comprising its Welfare Department and Visitor Centre. Staff at the Welfare Department work tirelessly to rehabilitate sick, neglected or traumatised horses bringing them back to health and enabling them to trust humans once again.
The Visitor Centre also plays an important role, allowing the public to meet some of the recovered animals and learn about animal welfare. Funds raised from the Visitor Centre are used to help pay for the charity's work.
