Arson blamed for mountain blaze
But Mid and West Wales Fire Service was called out again on Tuesday morning over concerns 15 horses located nearby are being put under threat.
A service spokeswoman said the fire had been started deliberately.
She added the officer from Pontardawe who attended on Monday shortly after 1800 GMT, had decided to let the fire burn because it was too dangerous to commit firefighters.
The decision was taken after a risk assessment was carried out at the scene in Upper Brynamman.
She said the fire officer had reported the blaze as a "malicious ignition".
The spokeswoman explained that crews had been called out again on Tuesday morning because the blaze was close to 15 horses located on the mountain.
