Spectacular performances assured at BRC Quadrille of the Year Final 2008

Spectacular performances assured at BRC Quadrille of the Year Final 2008

The British Riding Clubs Quadrille of the Year Final will take place on Saturday 20 December at The London International Horse Show, Olympia.

Set in the spectacular Grand Hall at Olympia, the final, now in its 15th year, promises once again to be an elaborate display of clever costumes and star quality performances. Olympia encapsulates the very essence of Christmas so people are invited to come and join British Riding Clubs in the fun and festivities.

The championships, sponsored by South Essex Insurance Brokers Ltd, will be judged by the President of The British Horse Society, Desi Dillingham; The British Horse Society Chairman, Patrick Print FBHS; and Fashion Designer and Author, Julian Seaman.

A selection trial was held on 4 October at Addington Manor Equestrian Centre to determine which lucky teams would make it through to the London final. Thirteen teams took part but only four have the opportunity to perform at Olympia for the chance to be crowned 2008 Quadrille Champions.

The first successful team selected to compete at the finals were Moat View Riding Club in Kent with their ‘Battleaxes - A Call to Arms' routine. Moat View are holders of the Quadrille title, taking the championship last year with their Furious Angels performance.

The second team to qualify were from Saffron Walden and District Riding Club in Essex. They will be conjuring up a bewitching performance with their ‘Double Trouble' theme.

Wey Valley Riding Club will perform ‘Fairground Frolics' as their chosen theme. The choreography was a team effort and depicts colourful carousel horses at a fairground.

The fourth and final competitors will be St Edmunds Riding Club from Suffolk. They will be performing as ‘The Mystick Krewe,' bringing flamboyant costumes and a carnival atmosphere to the competition.
