Award to recognise successful sponsorships

Award to recognise successful sponsorships

The hunt is on to find a rider who works as hard for his or her sponsors as Tim Stockdale, Matt Ryan and Ellen Whitaker.

All three are previous winners of the BETA/TSM Rider Award. Now the British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA) is inviting nominations for the 2009 accolade, to be presented at the BETA Gala Dinner in February.

"Successful sponsorships work for the mutual benefit of both riders and their commercial backers," said BETA's executive director Claire Williams. "Even more importantly, sponsorship helps drive competitive success which raises awareness of equestrianism - and that's good for the entire industry."

The TSM Rider Award is open to riders in all disciplines and from international to local level. The winner will be the rider who has forged a particularly productive relationship with his or her sponsors.

"Sponsorship can be in the form of cash, provision of products or endorsement deals," said Tim Smith of leading PR and marketing agency TSM. "In return, some riders are prepared to go the extra mile by making personal appearance, contributing to product development and actively promoting their sponsor's brand."

The closing date for nominations for the TSM Rider Award is 16th January 2009 after which a short list will be drawn up with the final decision being reached by an independent panel.

Rider nominations should be emailed to tinar@beta-int.com or posted to TSM Rider Award Nominations, BETA, East Wing, Stockeld Park, Wetherby, LS22 4AW. As well as providing the rider's name and contact details, please add a brief explanation as to why you feel he or she deserves to win. Supporting press cuttings and competition results can be included.
