Trailblazers makes performance count
But the four elements are not compulsory; competitors simply lose ten marks from their performance score for each one not attempted. Two minutes are allowed for each rider's individual show incorporating the set movements.
"Style & Performance classes are weighted very much towards performance so will appeal to riders who perhaps wouldn't usually consider their horses ideal for pure showing," said Trailblazers director Norman Bargh. "We like to think of Style & Performance as showing with a twist; a class everyone can enter with any horse or pony and still win recognition for their accomplishments."
Trailblazers Style & Performance classes are run for ponies 148cm and under and horses over 148cm. Riders can be of any age, and any conventional, correct saddlery may be worn.
The launch of this new showing class follows the very successful first Spillers Trailblazers Showing Championships at Stoneleigh Park in July. Trailblazers also runs well-established show jumping and dressage series, and is considering introducing working hunter competitions.
Trailblazers show jumping, dressage and showing First Rounds, the initial step to qualifying for the 2009 Spillers
Trailblazers Championships via Second Rounds, take place at more than 50 show centres across the UK throughout the year.
The national series, sponsored by South Essex Insurance Brokers (SEIB), offers cost-effective, well-structured competitions in all three disciplines.
