Retailers of all types and sizes will be considered as the SEIB Retailer of the Year Award is judged in three categories, large and small tackshops plus internet/mail order retailers.
Sponsored by leading equine insurer South Essex Insurance Brokers, the award was devised by BETA to reward high standards in specialist equestrian retailing.
When nominating your favourite retailer, BETA asks shoppers to consider how well products are displayed and explained, whether staff are knowledgeable and helpful, if a personal yet professional service is offered, whether the right products are available when you need them, the cleanliness of shops and accuracy and speed of mail order deliveries.
"SEIB is delighted to support an award which gives riders and horse owners the chance to show how much they value their favourite retailers," said Nicolina Mackenzie, marketing manager of SEIB.
"A retailer who makes an extra effort to offer reliable advice or find an unusual product - and all with a smile - can make all the difference."
Nominated retailers will receive a questionnaire from BETA which must be completed and returned to be eligible for the next stage of judging. ‘Mystery shoppers' then make incognito visits and telephone calls to short-listed retailers before a final decision is reached.
Nominations for the 2009 SEIB Retailer of the Year Award can be made at www.retaileroftheyear.org.uk and close on 8th December 2008.
