NEW HOOFCARE QUALIFICATION LAUNCHED
"We wanted to develop a qualification that didn't just meet the minimum standards of education for hoofcare specialists being developed by LANTRA, the Government-licenced sector skills council, but one that provided the highest level of education on the equine hoof available in the world today and I am confident that we have achieved this".
Jayne Hunt, Chairman of the Equine Podiatry Association (UK) a professional body for the regulation, ongoing education and support of Equine Podiatrists working in the UK said "This course has been a long time coming. So delighted are we with the standard of education offered that we plan to make the qualification the requirement for entry into our association."
More information about the course is available on www.eptrain.co.uk. Anyone wishing to know more about Equine Podiatry can look on the EPA website, www.epauk.org the body which regulates, supports and provides ongoing education for Equine Podiatrists working in the UK
Background Information
An Equine Podiatrist is a specialist in the equine foot who uses his or her knowledge to work with horse owners and veterinarians to improve equine hoof health. Unlike farriers, Equine Podiatrists do not fit shoes and are engaged by owners seeking help with lameness issues relating to the hoof as well as a growing population of horse owners who simply prefer to keep their horses shoeless.
