Blair Castle International Horse Trials to host Major Championship
British Eventing is pleased to announce that the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) has awarded the European Young Rider Eventing Championships to Blair Castle International Horse Trials for 2011.
The event which takes place every August celebrated it's 20th year in 2009 and has firmly secured its place as Scotland's leading Equestrian Event. The FEI has recognised this by awarding the European Young Rider Eventing Championships to Blair for 2011.
This is the second time in five years that the team at Blair has hosted the Under-21 Championships. In 2007 around 15 teams from across Europe converged on Highland Perthshire to enjoy top class competition and the championships were hailed a great success.
Event Director Alec Lochore said "I am delighted that Atholl Estates with significant support from EventScotland and The Perth & Kinross Council have again brought top class championship sport to Scotland. My team and I look forward to welcoming nations from across Europe to what I hope will be a memorable Championships." | |
Paul Bush OBE, Chief Operating Officer at EventScotland, the national events agency, said: "EventScotland has supported the Blair Castle Horse Trials annually since 2004 when it was funded through the Regional Events Programme. The event has grown considerably since then and progressed to our International Events Programme. Securing the 2011 FEI European Eventing Championships for Young Riders is testament to what a fantastic event the Blair Castle Horse Trials is. 2011 will be another great year for the Trials and for Scotland's Young Riders and we look forward to providing our support once again."
