Six strong Eventing squad selected for the Junior European Championships
- Giles Blanchard (18) from Abingdon, Oxfordshire on his own Arnies Game
- Sienna Myson-Davies (17) from Guildford, Surrey on her own Tambourine
- Camilla Dumas (16) from Shepton Mallet in Somerset on Action Packed, owned by Camilla and her father, Robin Dumas
- Amelia King (18) from Congleton, Cheshire and her own Captain Crunchie
- Evie Paterson (17) from Ellesmere, Shropshire, riding her own Direct Opposition
- Eliza Sangster (17) from Marlborough, Wiltshire on her own High Havoc
The squad reserves also in alphabetical order are:
Dani Evans (17) from Pensford, Bristol on Uchin, owned by Heather Sheppard
Evie Paterson (17) on Direct Supreme
Gina Ruck (16) from Tealby, Lincolnshire on her own Rehy Too
The Junior Squad has the benefit of the experience of Sienna Myson-Davies, Giles Blanchard and Evie Paterson, all of whom were part of the double Gold medal winning squad at last year's Europeans at Thirlestane Castle. Amelia King, Camilla Dumas and Eliza Sangster will all be making their squad debuts.
Chairman of the Junior Selectors, Robin Balfour, is looking forward to a good European Championship: "We are very fortunate to have three combinations with previous Junior European Championship experience as part of the squad. We are delighted that they will be joined by three riders making their squad debuts - all six truly deserve their places.
"We are also pleased to be competing hand-in-hand with the Jump Savings Young Rider squad at these combined European Championships and I am confident that all the riders will do us proud."
British Eventing Sport Manager (Development) Paul Graham says: "It is fantastic to have three members from the 2008 Junior European squad re-selected for this year. This continuation plays a vital role in our medal successes. The experience and knowledge that these riders will be able to impart to the squad debutantes is invaluable.
"It is exciting to have such talented riders on the squad and hopefully they'll be able to emulate the successes of 2008. We wish them all the very best out in Belgium."
The trip to Belgium has been possible thanks to the unerring support of the UK Sport funded Equestrian World Class Programme, which supports a pathway to success for Eventing, Show Jumping, Dressage and Para-Equestrian Dressage athletes. The aim is to have in place a sustainable system that can deliver more medals on the international stage now and in the future. The Programme has been funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, primarily from the National Lottery, via UK Sport since 1998.
