Founded in 1927 by Ada Cole, the ILPH is one of the world’s leading equine welfare charities, with four Recovery and Rehabilitation Centres. Norfolk (ILPH Head Quarters) Blackpool, Somerset and Aberdeenshire. At any one time we have around 300 equines undergoing rehabilitation, plus over 2000 out on loan to approved homes. Our 16 Field Officers investigate cruelty and neglect complaints, check on ILPH Loan Scheme equines, offer help and advice and visit horse sales. In Europe, we campaign against transporting live horses long distances in dreadful conditions for slaughter, and in developing countries, we train people in saddlery, nutrition and farriery.
