This would be a crime to let these poor ponies and donkies suffer yet again in the hands
of this barbaric man. And any judge, person who allows this to happen is committing a crime against these poor horses, ponies and donkies that suffered at his hands.

I really am very dissapointed at the courts decision is there any way it can be over turned? I believe these ponies and donkeys should be given a decent, good healthy life after the ordeal they have had. As decent human beings, who are appaled at the abuse of animals in other countries we should be setting an example and not let these animals suffer any more how can the judge even contemplate giving these ponies and donkeys back.

We all need to raise our voices and be heard, for these poor animals to be returned to their place of torture is unthinkable. I don't understand how any judge could order these animlas to be sent to auction when they are already in the care of welfare organisations who will be able to find caring and loving homes them.

To return the horses and ponies to the Gray family and to auction the rest seems an act of unthinking callousness. It would appear to show a profound lack of understanding of the equine nature, to say nothing of the responsibility that every human being has towards the animal kingdom. The horse, as much as any four legged creature, is owed an enormous debt by mankind. This judgement is not, repeat not, the way to repay that debt.

Hello Voices For Horses
I can't believe the news I heard about this yesterday. I am sickened and angered by this.
I do not understand how anyone can come to the decision of sending 29 equines back to their original owner when clearly they do not have a clue how to look after them. Has judge Kainth forgotten that so many were found dead at the farm and some had to be humanely destroyed by vets at the point of the rescue.
I also do not understand the decision to send the other horses to auction. Their futures are not guaranteed safe, they could end up with others who do not know how to care for them or could end up going for meat.
At the moment the equines are being cared for with people who can give them the safe secure future they deserve. This is where they should stay. Taking them away from their current safe surroundings is wrong and uncaring.
I do not understand how people who have caused so much suffering can get away with it. What is the point in having animal welfare laws if the courts aren't going to take things seriously. If these people are allowed to get away with what they have done, they will do it again. They should not be allowed to keep any animal of any kind.
I am wondering if Judge Kainth doesn't give a dam about animal welfare? If a child had been abused by its parents social services wouldn't give the child back and give the parents a second chance, why should it be any different for animals.
I am disgusted at this decision.

I am absolutely appalled at the condition that these poor horses were found in and now the totally irresponsible verdict to return some of these poor animals, and also that some are to go to market. Its so clear to all animal lovers that these horses and ponies need to stay in the care of the fantastic welfare providers that have been involved so that they can be rehomed carefully into loving ,knowledgeable homes so that there futures will be happy and healthy.

I am absolutely appalled that a Judge sitting in a British Court of Law is able to make such a ruling as this. When I saw the initial reports detailing the conditions found on the farm, pictures, welfare charity reports etc together with the number of equines involved including those which had perished, the only conclusion I could draw was that of animal cruelty the likes of which I had never seen and hope never to have to see again. Unfortunately thanks to this ruling I have a feeling that history is about to repeat itself.
If this is the way the British judicial system is now reacting to and failing to punish perpetrators of such shocking cases of animal cruelty, I am truly ashamed to be British. I also have a huge feeling of unease that this case my set a precedent for those that, god forbid, may follow.
I have never been as upset and angered by a news story as this today. I cannot even imagine how the charities and their employees who rescued and have cared for and nurtured these animals back to health, feel today, devastated probably does not even being to get close.
Truly shocking.

I am shocked and frustrated that a judge could pass such a judgement clearly he has no experiance in animal welfare or how damaging mentally this can be to those poor equines. This country needs people who sit at the bar in court to understand animal wellfair not just law as the law has clearly let this poor animal down. If there were any legislation in place which the law has the power to do, these animals would not be in this position. Also why has it taken so long to bring this cruel man to justice.

I'm completely shocked that ANY animals could possibly be returned to the Grays. Surely dead horses being found on the premises is enough evidence that they're not being cared for properly?
I totally support the fight to have the Judge's decision over-ruled.

I heard about the Amersham situation yesterday and was appalled by the news. I hope the RSPCA and other organisations can come up with a solution and successfully appeal the decision of Deputy District Judge Sandeep Kainth, not only is it possible that the 29 horses & ponies returned to him will suffer again but the other horses and ponies will have to suffer the trauma of a market and new home all over again, from what I gather one of them is a partially sighted elderly mare, I cannot believe that can be allowed to happen. And what of all the hard work of the rescue centre, vets and fundraisers?
I am not clear on the law in this matter but I cannot understand how the animals can be ordered to be returned and sold before the trial, surely if he is found guilty at the trial he will banned from keeping horses & ponies in any event? Why can they not wait until the result of the trial to make such decisions?
It is a sad day for animal welfare

From my heart to yours please do something to stop these horses being sold at Auction.
I would offer a hundred pounds towards a fund to buy them from Jamie Gray and I know others will join me. to transport them back to an open auction after the loving care and sanctuary they are in now would be a gross injustice to them, the people who saved them and us the public, who are only asking for the right thing to be done for these traumatised animals, who have just begun to respond and understand love. to the Judge may we plead with you to allow us to help and save and care for these horses of which one is deaf and blind... all we ask is that you would allow us the public to buy their lives with money given with love .. and respect for the law..Through our common humanity we ask the Judge to assist us and allow the law to see beyond the value of these animals and through his kindness . allow them to be bought direct rather than suffer at an auction ,
sincerely

Words can't express the anger i feel towards a man who holds the life of such an wonderful animal in his soiled hands! The horses suffered for so long before anything was done to help them & now because the law can't find a reason to hold onto them they can now be returned or sold off to anyone ?
I feel for the staff of the charities & helpers that have shown the horses humans do care with love & kindness. Perhaps we could respectfully request the Judge take five minutes out of his busy life & step into their world. Look into each & every horses eyes knowing he's sentenced the horses returning to Spindles Farm to death. It would be more humane to put them all to sleep & that's not something i would say likely without thinking of my own horses! If we can't keep the horses away from him, we need to contact his suppliers shippers & buyers by putting pressure on them I'm sure they wouldn't want the bad press would they?

I am outraged at the decision to return these helpless creatures to James Gray who is yet to face charges under the animal welfare act. A gross injustice has taken place!

There are times when those who make judgements in law can have no concept of the impact. Such a judgement has been made on the animals removed by charities from James Gray, some ordered to be returned to this meat trader and others to be sent to auction. We live in a society that has become used to hearing of terrorist organisations. Spindles Farm is the equivilent of a terrorist organisation but the animals with in it were silent until some dedicated humans tried to relieve them of their suffering. How many dead, dying horses, ponies and donkeys does a judge need to hear about to become a sympathetic member of the human race rather than a unfeeling robot? Get the decision reversed NOW!

one major concern i have is the lack of input since the court judgement from the RSPCA. i also wonder why, when the organisations concerned have i am sure the ability to raise the amount of money needed to purchase these horses/ponies they don't seem to be making an effort to do so,or perhaps it's all going on behind the scenes although i am beginning to doubt it somehow.i don't care if the cretin of a man gets rich ...this time...as long as we can see these horses given a permanent refuge. as for the judge, did the prosecution not reveal photographic evidence of the donkeys and horses to show the shocking condition they were in ? what ever is going on here ?
